Updated MP: HP Storage Management Pack

HP Storage Management Pack has bumped to version 3.1. In this version we have the following new features:

  • Support for System Center Operations Manager 2012 R2
    • Support for System Center Operations Manager 2007 R2 and 2012 SP1 is still available
  • Support for Windows Server 2012 R2 Operating System
  • Silently install HP Storage Management Pack for System Center and HP Storage WEBES Listener for System Center.
  • Support for HP StoreVirtual Storage and VSA with LHN OS 11.0
  • Support for HP MSA 2040
  • PowerShell Cmdlets for HP Storage Management Pack to configure and view alerts and topological view information.

It is good that support for the R2 wave is introduced so soon after the last month release and more devices are added in the MP for monitoring, but the last feature seems the cherry on top. Some PowerShell cmdlets are available for the MP which give more flexibility and enable some automation scenario. This MP is getting better with every release.

  1. Hi Stanislav,
first i want to say…all great articles.
To the HP ManagementPacks i have one question regarding bring the ConfigItem into SCSM.

In a lot of HP MP´s the configuration Item is synced to SCSM, but i cannot create a few on this.
for example view on 3par StoreServ Storage i have this message:

Message: Target property ManagementPackElement=HPEnterpriseStorage3PARMP.3PARSystem in ManagementPack:[Name=HPEnterpriseStorage3PARStoreServMP, KeyToken=0cb579616e939126, Version=3.1.0.0] of View is incorrect.

    or for LeftHand, storeVirtual:

Perhaps you can give me a tip in what I´m making wrong, or you can contect HP and inform about this.

    1. Hi Markus,
Glad that you like the content on the site.
About the issue: It is problem of the MP and how that class is defined – It cannot be used in other MPs as it is internal class for the MP. I will try to contact HP so this can be fixed in some of the next releases. Syncing CI information with SCSM is a key scenario that should be available.

      1. Yeah many thanks.
Yes its a key scenario to have all date in the great and flexible SCSM CMDB.
But such things like this are bad…
I hope that HP solce this very soon 🙂
Until now i never asked this, and i hoped that this is fixed in this new 3.1 MP…

Ok so hope for a soon Update 🙂

Other question: i have anaged near 80 StoreVirtual and 3 Par, and on the snpm server i have every 2 or 3 minutes the issue that powershell uses all of CPU! Have you hear of this? for tests i removed nearly all, but this issue with 100% is the dame…but only for 2 seconds and not for 8

        THANK YOU

  2. thats one of my problems. I cannot find this rules in SCOM2012 with the neweset HP MP installed on a Agent managed Server!

Is this also in my scenario to do? Perhaps i make something wrong 😦

    1. I haven’t the time to look at the latest versions. If I have the time I will take a look in the weekend. Keep in mind you can always raise ticket to HP. The MP is supported by them. It seems more of a bug than you doing something wrong.
